'Your Highness' Movie Preview and 'Arthur' Movie Preview

'Your Highness' Movie Preview and 'Arthur' Movie Preview

Which movies are fun for the whole family and which ones are treats just for you? Find out!

In theaters now...

Your Highness
Short Story:
Natalie Portman, James Franco, Zooey Deschanel and Danny McBride star in this Medieval stoner comedy about Prince Fabious (Franco) and his useless younger brother Thadeous (McBride), who team with a dashing warrior princess (Portman) to rescue Fabious' stolen bride (Deschanel). And, of course, smoke some weed along the way.

What They're Saying:
"David Gordon Green's hard-R comedy is an ambler's delight, never content to race so much as to linger on its crude yet benign misadventures." -- Time Out New York

"By trashing fairy-tale propriety, Green and McBride personalize the genre enthusiasm of the Star Wars generation."-- New York Press

Good For Kids?
While Your Highness may be enjoyed by those young at heart, it has just a tad too much pot-smoking, cursing and nudity for the little ones.

Arthur
Short Story:
Funnyman Russell Brand plays Arthur Bach, a spoiled, indulgent and perpetually drunk playboy who stands to lose his inheritance after humiliating his family one too many times. Helen Mirren stars as his dutiful nanny (yep, he still has one), Jennifer Garner as his ice queen of a fiancee, and Greta Gerwig as the girl of this dreams, who might -- just might -- help turn him into a responsible adult.

What They're Saying:
"It seems like an odd choice for a remake 30 years down the line, as Moore's portrayal is one of his best, and best-known, roles. But if you must, Brand is the man for the job." - Arizona Republic

"Brand definitely carries the first hour with his free-associative riffing and childlike energy." - MSN Movies

Good For Kids?
Filled with a bit of edgy humor -- and a lot of booze -- Arthur is definitely not for children.

Hanna
Short Story:
After being trained to be an assassin by her ex-CIA father (Eric Bana), 16-year-old Hanna (Saoirse Ronan) is dispatched on a mission that takes her across Europe, puts her skills to the test and forces her to elude a band of deadly operatives led by Cate Blanchett.

What They're Saying:
"Wright combines his two genres into a stylish exercise that perversely includes some sentiment and insight." -- Chicago Sun Times

"The fact that Ronan is this good at this young age is what's truly frightening here." -- Associated Press

Good For Kids?
Hanna packs in the action -- perfect for the older crowd, not for the kiddie crew.

Soul Surfer
Short Story:
Based on a true story, Soul Surfer tells the tale of a young girl (AnnaSophia Robb), who, after losing her arm during a shark attack, musters the courage to get back in the ocean. Country star Carrie Underwood makes her film debut as the religious guru who helps her do it.

What They're Saying:
"Soul Surfer, while formulaic in design, is an authentic and heartfelt movie." - Entertainment Weekly

"The true story of one-armed surfer girl Bethany Hamilton keeps its balance in Soul Surfer, a kind-hearted coming-of-age drama with killer waves." - Variety

Good For Kids?
This tale of triumph and new beginnings is a perfect fit for all ages.

In case you missed...

Source Code
Short Story:
When decorated soldier Captain Colter Stevens (Jake Gyllenhaal) wakes up in the body of an unknown man, he discovers he's part of a mission to find the bomber of a Chicago commuter train. Turns out he's part of a government experiment called the "Source Code," which enables him to cross over into another man's identity in the last eight minutes of his life. With a second, much larger target threatening to kill millions in downtown Chicago, Colter relives the incident over and over again, gathering clues each time, so that he can solve the mystery of who is behind the bombs and prevent the next attack.

What They're Saying:
"Source Code bats around interesting philosophical ideas about the elasticity of time, and the director finds moments of humor in unlikely corners of that train of fools." - EW

"Part of the fun of Duncan Jones's frequently clever sci-fi thriller is being as in-the-dark as the film's protagonist." - Time Out New York

Good For Kids?
Source Code packs explosive romance, action and drama -- all a bit much for the little ones.

Hop
Short Story:
The battle for Easter is on! In Hop, Despicable Me's Russell Brand voices E.B., the teenage son of the Easter Bunny who's primed to take over the family business. The only snag? E.B. wants to be a drummer, so he strikes out for Hollywood, where he persuades Fred (James Marsden), an unemployed slacker with his own lofty goals, to take him in. But when a power-hungry chick stages a coup back on Easter Island, E.B. and Fred team up to figure out who they really are and how they can save Easter.

What They're Saying:
"Despite its scattered frenzy, Hop -- thanks to its fondness for smushing together seemingly incongruous elements and Marsden's goofy, bug-eyed mugging -- is just demented enough to deliver a fleeting sugar rush." -- Village Voice

"You'll laugh a lot at this colourful Easter treat, so hop to it." -- Birmingham Post

Good For Kids?
The kids will fall in love with the adorable fur ball and his silly antics.

Insidious
Short Story:
Josh and Renai have a happy family with their three young children -- but when tragedy strikes their young son, the couple begins to experience things that science cannot explain.

What They're Saying:
"The film is stylish and quietly unsettling even in its derivativeness, and it delivers the sort of slow-building chills that ruffle the hair at the back of your neck, at least until the frights get a little too literal, in the movie's third act." -- Miami Herald

"Director James Wan and screenwriter Leigh Whannell admire all sorts of fright, from the blatant to the insidiously subtle. This one lies at an effective halfway point between those extremes." - Chicago Tribune

Good For Kids?
Keep the kids far away from this spooky sci-fi flick.
