Even a Vatican Warlock Assassin loses a battle every once in a while. As proof, Charlie Sheen has been denied in his bid to assume sole custody of his 2-year-old twins Bob and Max, whom he shares with soon-to-be ex-wife Brooke Mueller.
TMZ reports that Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge Hank Goldberg handed down the decision after a hearing Tuesday morning. The ruling essentially means that the current joint-custody agreement reached by Sheen, 45, and Mueller, 32, in late March still stands.
The hearing comes on the heels of reports that Mueller -- who, like Sheen, has battled drug addiction -- relapsed last week, subsequently refused to take a court-ordered drug test and then checked into a rehab facility last weekend.
Though Sheen's other ex, Denise Richards, allegedly offered to watch the boys for a while, Charlie had other plans. No doubt smelling blood in the water, he quickly arranged for a hearing to contest the current custody arrangement, telling a crowd at his Connecticut show on Sunday: "So (Brooke's) MIA. The kids are with her less-than-stable mom. So guess where I'm going tonight after the show? I'm going to L.A. to get my f***ing kids back."
As Sheen enthusiasts/haters will no doubt recall, the joint-custody agreement reached on March 22 came just weeks after Mueller was awarded temporary sole custody of the twins and a restraining order against Sheen, whom she had claimed was a threat to her and the kids. "I am very concerned that (Sheen) is currently insane," Mueller stated in a court document at the time. "I am in great fear that he will find me and attack me, and I am in great fear for the children's safety while in his care."
Mueller's fears were apparently assuaged by the time a March 22 hearing to reevaluate the situation rolled around; she declined to renew the restraining order against Sheen, and the actor once again received joint custody of Bob and Max.
So for now, the 2-year-old boys will split their time between their country-touring, tiger-blood-spewing papa and their watch-pawning, rehabbing mama. Somehow, though, we're betting this vicious cycle isn't through spinning just yet. Stay tuned.
