Neill Blomkamp: ?Alien? Sequel Director, with Ridley Scott as Producer, Official and Confirmed

The Neill Blomkamp ‘Alien’ sequel rumors are no more. He’s officially confirmed as the director with Ridley Scott as producer. Yes, after much speculation, now at long last, we have some real news to be excited about in place of lingering hopes and fears that such may be dashed. Yes, Neill Blomkamp will direct. Known for directing and co-writing ‘Elysium’ and ‘District 9′ and Ridley Scott — director of the original 1979 ‘Alien’ movie — will produce, with his company Scott/Free, according to Deadline Hollywood which first broke the news. Blomkamp will co-write the script which reportedly is set after the Prometheus trilogy. He is also director of the forthcoming ‘Chappie’ due out later this year. The news has quickly gone viral, and Boomkamp confirmed it himself on Instagram where he posted an image of one of those deliciously menacing aliens with the caption, “Um… So I think it’s officially my next film. #alien.” And with that much excitement, even as we don’t know much else!
