Bruno Mars opened up about his Super Bowl halftime performance and more in an interview on ‘The Ellen DeGeneres Show.’ He spoke out about critics and detractors and offered some inspiring words for aspiring music artists. The 28-year-old multi-Grammy winner Bruno Mars had plenty to say in the aftermath of his record-setting halftime show at Super Bowl XLVIII which featured The Red Hot Chili Peppers. It became the most-watched ever of Super Bowl halftime performances, outpacing previous performers including Beyonce and Madonna. In reflecting upon that success, Bruno Mars, told host Ellen DeGeneres how he made the decision to perform when asked, “?I?ve only got two albums, so I don?t have like a legacy or anything like that, but tomorrow?s not promised, so I had to go for it.” Ellen pointed out the criticism that he had received prior to the performance from those who did not think he was enough of a superstar performer for the Super Bowl, and in particular, some pointed comments in a New York Times article noting that Bruno Mars couldn’t possible be a music superstar since, after all, “he?s not in the tabloids, he doesn?t have a fragrance, and simply because he?s not ready.?
