As the world coos over her new baby, the man who published topless photos of Prince George?s mother is being charged with violating France?s privacy laws.
Nearly a year after the photos of Kate Middleton appeared in the French magazine ?Closer,? editor Laurence Pieau has been ordered to stand trial. Two other ?Closer? employees, its publishing director, and the photographer who took the pictures were formally charged in April.
The photos in question were taken while the Duchess of Cambridge was sunbathing topless on vacation with husband Prince William at Chateau d'Autet in Provence, France in September 2012. At the time, Ms. Middleton's lawyer argued that the photos were a "grotesque breach of privacy."
Editor Pieau has gone on record saying she had no regrets about publishing the pictures. "These photos are not in the least shocking," she said recently. "They show a young woman sunbathing topless, like the millions of women you see on beaches.?
