First Listen: Britney Spears Featuring will.i.am, ?Big Fat Bass? (30 Second Clip)
Jake Gyllenhaal and Taylor Swift Have an Oscar Party Run-In
Taylor Swift and Jake Gyllenhaal had an accidental reunion at an Oscar party on Sunday night -- and sparks didn't exactly fly between them. Swift, 21, and Gyllenhaal, 30, ran into each other at the exclusive Vanity Fair post-Oscar party (although Taylor didn't seem to be at the actual Academy Awards ceremony). For the most part, the ex-couple avoided one another -- but at one point, they had a hushed and unsmiling conversation by the bathrooms. (Where else would you go to talk about your broken heart?)
"They were outside near the restroom having a discussion," a party guest tells People. "It seemed a bit more serious -- it certainly wasn't a 'Hi, how are you?' talk." Adds the source, "It sounded like they were catching up, sorting something out,."
A Washington Post blogger overheard parts of the conversation, but didn't eavesdrop long. "Gyllenhaal is using words like 'care' and 'feel,'" the reporter wrote from the party. "It is not a good spot to linger."
After the chat, Swift spent the remainder of the party having girl time with Selena Gomez and Emma Stone.
The actor and country-pop star briefly became "GyllenSwift" this fall, when they were spotted on coffee dates together in multiple cities. Gyllenhaal reportedly ended the relationship in December, although the pair was spotted having dinner together in Nashville last month.
While she left the Vanity Fair party alone, Swift seems to be moving on: She spent part of the weekend getting flirty with Glee star Chord Overstreet.

Christopher Nolan Calls 'Dark Knight Rises' His Last Batman Film
'We're very much excited about really finishing a trilogy and giving a conclusion to our story,' filmmaker says on Oscars red carpet.

Over nearly 70 years as the World's Greatest Detective, Batman has followed clues, pursued investigations and pounded out confessions from a diverse rogues' gallery as tight-lipped and unresponsive as they come. But never mind the Joker or the Penguin: If the Dark Knight wanted a real challenge, he should try getting information from his director, Christopher Nolan.
The ever-reserved Nolan was predictably and amusingly coy when asked about "The Dark Knight Rises" on the red carpet at the Academy Awards, where the 40-year-old was a double nominee in the categories of Best Picture and Best Original Screenplay for "Inception."
We asked Nolan what the theme of "The Dark Knight Rises" would be, with fear such a major subtext in "Batman Begins" and escalation in "The Dark Knight." "Wow, that's a tricky one. I actually don't have an answer for you today," Nolan smiled, having already finished the script for the film, which is set to begin shooting in a few months. "I'm gonna have to really think about that."
When asked about the casting choices of Thomas Hardy for Bane and Anne Hathaway for Selina Kyle, a.k.a. Catwoman, Nolan replied, "Once you see the film in 2012, you will completely understand why they were the perfect choice for these characters."
On one note, however, Nolan was incredibly emphatic: This will be his last Batman film.
"Yes," he said when asked if he was done with the franchise after "The Dark Knight Rises." "We're very much excited about really finishing a trilogy and giving a conclusion to our story. And that's what we're doing."
Starring a large cast led by newly minted Oscar-winner Christian Bale, "The Dark Knight Rises" is scheduled to open on July 20, 2012.

'Sex And The City 2,' 'Last Airbender' Score Razzies
Ashton Kutcher, Jessica Alba also receive the dubious honor on Oscar weekend.

Winning an award on Oscar weekend is generally a time for celebration, but for M. Night Shyamalan and the ladies of "Sex and the City 2," Saturday night's near clean sweep at the 31st Annual Golden Raspberries was likely to inspire anything but. What a twist.
Created to (dis)honor the very worst in cinema during the previous year, the Razzies bestowed their top prize to Shyamalan's "The Last Airbender." Based on the anime series "Avatar," "Airbender" took home five trophies, including Worst Picture, Worst Director, Worst Screenplay, Worst Eye-Gouging Mis-Use of 3-D and Worst Supporting Actor for co-star Jackson Rathbone.
The wins were a breakthrough of sorts for the director once thought to be among the very best of his generation, as Shyamalan's previous film, "The Happening," was nominated for, but failed to win, Worst Picture and Worst Director at the 2008 Razzies.
"Sex and the City 2" managed to score three gold spray-painted statuettes, including wins for Worst Sequel, Worst Screen Ensemble and Worst Actress, which was presented to all four of the flick's stars — Kim Cattrall, Cynthia Nixon, Kristin Davis and Sarah Jessica Parker.
Also winning at the satirical awards show were Aston Kutcher, who took home the Worst Actor prize for his performances in both "Killers" and "Valentine's Day," and Jessica Alba, winner of Worst Supporting Actress for her turns in four films — "The Killer Inside Me," "Little Fockers," "Machete" and "Valentine's Day."

Kirk Douglas Steals The Show Presenting Best Supporting Actress Oscar
'She's gorgeous! Wow! Where were you when I was making pictures?' movie icon says to Oscars host Anne Hathaway.

Hollywood veteran and icon Kirk Douglas stole the show early on in the 2011 Academy Awards broadcast. Aided by a walking cane, Douglas took the stage at the Kodak Theatre to present the award for Best Supporting Actress.
By the time he handed the Oscar to Melissa Leo, Douglas had flirted with Oscars host Anne Hathaway and managed to have the room in stitches by poking fun at Hugh Jackman and Colin Firth.
"Thank you very much," he told the applauding audience. "And I want to thank James [Franco]. Thank you. You look much better out of the cave. And I want to thank Miss Hathaway. I thank you. She's gorgeous! Wow! Where were you when I was making pictures? Jeez!"
His comments about the Hollywood star caused the audience to break out into laughter and Hathaway to send air kisses to Douglas in gratitude. He continued, " I have something to confess. I love women and I really love beautiful women, and now I'm gonna give you five of them — the nominees for Best Supporting Actress."
After the names of the nominees were announced — Leo for "The Fighter," her co-star Amy Adams, Helena Bonham Carter for "The Kings' Speech," "True Grit" star Hailee Steinfeld and "Animal Kingdom" actress Jacki Weaver — the camera cut back to Douglas onstage, ready to announce the winner, or so the audience thought.
"Hello ... now is the moment, the moment that we are all waiting for," he teased. "Hugh Jackman is laughing. I don't know why everybody in Australia thinks I'm funny. Colin Firth is not laughing. He's British. Now we come to the most important part. This is the moment, if I can get it. You know you're still laughing. Colin Firth is laughing. You know I will never forget this moment ... now we have a winner."
Douglas finally got around to announcing the winner. When Leo arrived onstage to collect her award, she bowed down on one knee before the movie icon.

Lady Gaga Confirms There Are Two 'Born This Way' Videos
Proceeds from 'stripped-down' clip and song will go to 'anti-bully charity,' she tells Gayle King.

Lady Gaga sat down with Oprah Winfrey's bestie, Gayle King, to discuss her forthcoming Nick Knight-directed videos for her chart-topping single "Born This Way," from her May album of the same name.
"I do have some exciting news about the new single. I've been so excited about [the fans'] reaction and seeing the fans be so excited during the show every time we play 'Born This Way,' it's been really amazing," she told King. "I've made two music videos for the song."
Gaga then went on to confirm that portions of the proceeds from the sale of the "stripped-down" version of the song, which will get its own video (further details about that clip were not known at press time), will go to charity. "So there's one that's coming out on Monday," she explained. "But then I'm actually putting together another video, which is a more stripped-down version of the song that will be released on iTunes and also released as an audio file. A portion of the money raised selling the song is actually going to go towards an anti-bully charity."
Mum has been the word on what the videos will actually be like. Though Gaga, in a recent radio interview, noted that the visual is about "the birth of a new race within the race of humanity. The birth of a new race that doesn't bear any prejudices. I think the most important thing is that I continue to grow, and I knew when I put [out] 'BTW' it would be a transitional moment, because it doesn't sound like [my previous singles]."
What are you expecting from the "Born This Way" videos? Let us know in the comments!

'Black Swan,' Natalie Portman Nab Independent Spirit Awards
James Franco wins Best Actor for '127 Hours.'

The day might have started out mildly overcast, but as the film community watched in anticipation, the Santa Monica beach quickly went from partly cloudy to completely black, as "Black Swan" swept the major honors on its way to dominating the Independent Spirit Awards on Saturday (February 26).
A schizophrenic thriller about a ballerina's inner demons made manifest, "Black Swan" danced away with four awards, winning Best Feature, Best Director for Darren Aronofsky, Best Actress for Natalie Portman and Best Cinematography for Matthew Libatique. The flick is nominated in the same four categories at Sunday's Academy Awards.
Among other winners, the rural drama "Winter's Bone" nabbed two awards: Best Supporting Male for John Hawkes and Best Supporting Female for Dale Dickey. Presumptive Oscar Best Picture favorite "The King's Speech," meanwhile, won Best Foreign Film.
James Franco, who played a man who literally had to give up an arm to be here today, finally got his due, winning Best Actor for his performance in Danny Boyle's "127 Hours." The 32-year-old, who is in almost every moment of the film as the camera focuses on his character's struggle to make a nearly unthinkable sacrifice, will be front and center as co-host of the Academy Awards.
Other winners included "The Kids Are All Right" for Best Screenplay, "Get Low" for Best First Feature and "Exit Through the Gift Shop" for Best Documentary. Thierry Guetta, aka "Mr. Brainwash," accepted the award for "Exit" on behalf of the film's reclusive director, Banksy.
Hosted by Joel McHale, the show honored independent and original filmmaking throughout 2010, moving from last year's venue, the downtown L.A. Live complex, back to the beach in Santa Monica.

Britney Spears' Manager Teases Her Next Single
'It is a monster,' Larry Rudolph tells MTV News about 'Hold It Against Me' follow-up.

Britney Spears' <i>Femme Fatale</i>

With a little more than a month to go before the March 29 release of Britney Spears' Femme Fatale, we spoke to her longtime manager, Larry Rudolph, on the same night her eagerly anticipated "Hold It Against Me" video premiered.
Rudolph revealed to MTV News during our "HIAM" live stream on Thursday night that fans will likely hear another new song before the album — executive-produced by Max Martin and Dr. Luke — comes out.
"We have a second song that I think we're gonna end up putting out before the album drops," he teased. "I can't say with 100 percent certainty, but I think we probably will. But we're talking about it now and it is a monster. It really is."
Rudolph has been by Brit's side since the beginning of her career, and he predicted that if fans love "HIAM," then they're in for a real treat with the next song.
"I don't think I've been this excited about releasing a Britney single in many, many years," he added. "It's that good. That's all I'm gonna say about it at the moment. I haven't heard a final mix of it, but I should get it in the next day or two. So far, what I've heard is just extraordinary. It really is amazing. Her fans will be very happy with it. I'm trying hard to get it out before the album comes out."
Spears teased some upcoming promotional plans for the album last week during a Twitter Q&A. "I'm doing a lot of promo," she said. "There will be some major announcements in the next few days." She added, "I'm thinking about the tour right now and I would [love] to visit a lot of places I didn't get to go to on my last tour."

'Hall Pass' Leads Friday Box Office
Comedy bags $4.6 million; Nic Cage's 'Drive Angry' flops in ninth place.

Oscar weekend is typically a time for movie insiders to recognize high-brow, dramatic fare. But no matter who takes home the statues Sunday night, it's the raunchy, hilarious team behind flicks like "There's Something About Mary" and "Kingpin" who are taking home the gold.
"Hall Pass," starring Owen Wilson and Jason Sudeikis, topped all comers at the Friday-night box office with an estimated $4.6 million from 2,950 screens. If form holds, it will be the first # 1 opening for writing/directing duo Peter and Bobby Farrelly since 2000's "Me, Myself and Irene."
Not far behind in second place, Liam Neeson's "Unknown" managed to punch up nearly $3.9 million from 3,043 screens in its second week of release. Two years after dominating the February box office with "Taken," the secretly badass star should push "Unknown" past $40 million total by the end of the weekend.
While America's love affair with Neeson waxes, however, its relationship with Nicolas Cage may have waned irrevocably. New release "Drive Angry," featuring the Oscar winner turned action star's latest wackadoo performance, was good enough for only $1.6 million and ninth place. The weak opening is the latest in a string of recent flops for Cage, including "Season of the Witch" and "The Sorcerer's Apprentice."
In third place, "Just Go With It" starring Adam Sandler and Jennifer Aniston pulled in $3.3 million. Rounding out the top five, "Gnomeo and Juliet" and "I Am Number Four" earned $3.16 million and $3.14 million, respectively.
With a new "Director's Fan Cut", out this weekend only, Justin Bieber managed to hold strong at sixth place, as his 3-D concert flick "Never Say Never" scored $2.7 million. The flick's cumulative gross should breeze past $60 million this weekend.
Among Oscar hopefuls, "The King's Speech" (eighth place) continued its impressive run. The presumptive favorite at the Academy Awards brought its total to $108 million with a $1.9 million Friday haul.

Michael Jackson Doctor Conrad Murray Ordered To Stand Trial
Murray faces manslaughter charges in the singer's death; his medical license has also been suspended.

Dr. Conrad Murray has been ordered to stand trial for manslaughter in the death of Michael Jackson.
According to The Associated Press, Superior Court Judge Michael Pastor made the decision after a six-day preliminary hearing during which witnesses testified that the Houston cardiologist administered a dose of the powerful anesthetic propofol and other sedatives then left the pop star unmonitored.
During the course of the hearing, testimony was given that Murray ordered hundreds of bottles of propofol in the months before Jackson's death. The AP report also cited the fact that the prosecutors concluded their case with testimony from two doctors who said Murray acted outside the standard of medical care when he administered propofol and failed to provide proper care.
Other damning testimony included that of Jackson's bodyguard, who said that on the morning of the singer's death, it appeared that Murray didn't know how to administer CPR to his dying patient.
Judge Pastor also granted a request by the California Medical Board to suspend Murray's license to practice medicine in the state. Pastor said he made the decision in the interest of public safety and ordered Murray to notify every district in which he practices of the decision within 24 hours. Murray has clinics in Houston and Las Vegas.
Murray, 57, has pleaded not guilty, and his attorneys have argued that he did not give Jackson anything that should have killed him. Murray faces up to four years in prison if convicted.

Eminem Overtakes Lady Gaga As Facebook's Most 'Liked' Living Artist
He could soon surpass the late Michael Jackson as the site's overall most liked.
By James Montgomery
Eminem
Photo: John Shearer/ WireImage
By his own admission, Eminem "doesn't know how to work a computer," but that hasn't stopped him from overtaking Lady Gaga as the most "liked" living artist on Facebook.
Earlier this week, Em eclipsed Gaga to claim the title of Facebook's most-liked, as he currently counts more than 28,975,000 fans to LG's 28,926,000, according to Billboard. Eminem is currently averaging more than 500,000 Facebook "likes" a day, and could soon surpass none other than Michael Jackson to become the site's overall most-liked artist, according to Famecount, a site that tallies the "top social network stars worldwide." The late King of Pop currently has more than 29,183,000 Facebook fans, giving him a slight edge over the hard-charging Em.
Of course, when it comes to overall social influence, Eminem still trails both Gaga and Justin Bieber in total YouTube views — though he recently became the third artist to crack the 1-billion-view mark — and when it comes to total Twitter followers, his 3 million are barely enough to crack Famecount's top 20 musicians: Gaga is #1, followed by the likes of Bieber, Britney Spears, Katy Perry, Rihanna and, uh, Jessica Simpson.
Then again, all signs seem to point to Eminem's social media profile only increasing. He shows up in Dr. Dre's much-anticipated "I Need a Doctor" video, which premiered on Thursday, and just last week, he grabbed headlines when on-set photos from his upcoming "Space Bound" video — featuring porn star Sasha Grey — began making the rounds ... and just in case you were wondering, Grey has more than 110,000 Twitter followers of her own.

WATCH: Lady Gaga Gets Dreamy for MAC Viva Glam Ad
Last week Lady Gaga wore a condom inspired dress to discuss safe sex and working with MAC cosmetics to raise funds to fight AIDS. Now, in a new video promoting the lipsticks she designed for MAC's Viva Glam campaign, the fashion-forward singer dons a classier, more elegant outfit -- but the ad is just as out there as you'd expect from a woman who once wore a dress made of meat.
In the two-minute video, 24-year-old Gaga wears an ethereal, flowing dress. Her long, pale blonde hair is smooth and tame surrounding her impeccably made-up face. At first, Gaga stares into a mirror where everything is black and white, but then the picture changes to reveal a light color palette of neutrals and light pinks.
The production team clearly had some fun with a wind machine, because Gaga’s hair and silky dress always look like they're being blown away. At the end of the video, we see the iconic performer seductively applying the signature nude lipstick she designed. We then see her silhouette fade away as the curtains blow, and it's as if Gaga was never there -- or perhaps just a part of our imagination. If the video was going for a surreal feel, it sure as heck nailed it. Watch for yourself below!
Gaga and Cyndi Lauper first partnered with MAC in 2010 for the Viva Glam campaign, which encourages women to practice safe sex and donates all proceeds to AIDS research and relief. Gaga said she hopes this year to raise $50 million through the sales of the lipsticks she designed herself. We applaud her pro-social efforts, and, from a vanity standpoint, the lipstick is surprisingly wearable even if you're style is not as eclectic as Gaga's!

Oscar Preview: David Fincher Vs. Tom Hooper For Best Director
Though 'King's Speech' is the established front-runner, 'Social Network' director may be more deserving of Academy Award.
By Eric Ditzian

Can we begin speaking about the Best Director race by shouting out a man whose mug won't be thrust up on the screen when the Academy Award category is presented on Sunday night? Would that be dredging up sour — at this point, moldy — grapes? Too bad!
Let's kick off this installment of MTV News' Oscar previews by stating something that should not be forgotten: "Inception" director Christopher Nolan got robbed. Dude made maybe the brainiest popcorn flick in history — one whose story shifted between five separate realities, yet managed both to avoid being excessively confusing and to reward further viewings. It grossed over $820 million worldwide and earned Nolan directorial nods from the Golden Globes, Directors Guild of America and British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA). And yet, no directorial Oscar nod? Please! A Best Picture nomination at the Oscars is welcome, surely, but simply not enough. Mr. Nolan, we'll pour one out for you and continue on with the preview.
That snub aside, only two directors ever really had a chance to triumph in this category — Tom Hooper for "The King's Speech" and David Fincher for "The Social Network" — and on Oscar night, either one could win.
In Hooper's favor is the fact that "The King's Speech" has established itself as the general front-runner, leading the field with 12 Oscar nominations and dominating the Screen Actors Guild Awards, the Producers Guild Awards and the DGAs, among others. The DGAs are historically a very accurate predictor of the Best Director winner at the Oscars; only six times has the DGA winner failed to win the Oscar, most recently in 2002 when Rob Marshall ("Chicago") won the DGA but lost out to Roman Polanski ("The Pianist") for the Oscar. What's more, Oscar blogger Sasha Stone points out that only once before — with "Gladiator" in 2000 — has a Best Picture winner with 12 nominations lost out on the Directing award. So if we accept that "The King's Speech" is a lock to win Best Picture, we'd be taking on serious odds if we argued Hooper will lose to Fincher.
Our heads, then, tell us Hooper will come out on top. Yet our hearts keep telling us the "Social Network" director will end up the victor. Not because he won the BAFTA. Not because we think voters don't have a vested interest in punishing Fincher for declining to endure the tiresome glad-handing traditionally expected of nominees and instead going off to shoot "The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo" in Scandinavia. No, we have a feeling Fincher is going to eke out a win because he's the most deserving nominee.
Like Nolan, Fincher weaved together several different realities — in his case, one Harvard-based present and two lawsuit-consumed flash-forwards — gracefully and without a touch of audience bewilderment. Credit, of course, also has to go to scribe Aaron Sorkin and editors Angus Wall and Kirk Baxter (all of whom are nominated in their respective categories), but Fincher is a known control freak and, in the end, "The Social Network" is his baby. His storytelling facility combined with his movie's au courant theme of digital, often insincere interconnection at the expense of compassion and true relationship-building make for a potent combination.
With "The King's Speech" and "The Fighter" potentially dominating the major categories, voters might well decide "The Social Network" deserves some top-tier love in the form of a Fincher win. In fact, we're going to take a risk, avoid any fence-sitting and call it: David Fincher will win this year's Oscar for Best Director.
Will it be a regal evening for "The King's Speech"? Can "The Social Network" dial up Oscar gold? New 'Never Say Never' Clip Shows Justin Bieber Singing With Fan
The 'Director's Fan Cut' teaser captures the teen sensation performing an acoustic version of 'Baby' with a young girl.

Earlier this week, "Never Say Never" director Jon Chu promised MTV News that his new "Director's Fan Cut" of Justin Bieber's 3-D flick would deliver 40 minutes of fresh footage, including different songs (such as "Favorite Girl"), some more shirtless shots of the teen singer ("Maybe some abs!") and extra scenes of him interacting with fans.
With the recut movie hitting theaters on Friday (February 25), Paramount Pictures has released a clip showing just that: the Biebs hanging out with some of his young fanatical followers. The 71-second promo shows Bieber — pre-haircut, of course — at an intimate gathering in Phoenix. While the pop star gives an acoustic performance on a small stage, his fans beg him to play "Baby," but he jokes, "I don't know that song."
He then declares to a very young fan, "I'll only sing 'Baby' if you come up here and sing it with me." Cue the cuteness. The girl sits on his lap and together they belt out the hit single.
This isn't the first time we've seen Bieber show off an easy, breezy way with his youngest fans. Last year, he popped up on "Jimmy Kimmel Live" to surprise a 3-year-old Belieber named Cody who'd become an Internet sensation after her sister posted a video of her crying over the teen heartthrob on YouTube. As he tweeted later, "Makin faces with Cody!"
The re-released "Never Say Never" represents an effort both to goose box-office receipts three weeks after the film's initial opening and to feed the Beliebers' seemingly insatiable appetite for anything and everything connected to the star.
"We originally had a two-and-a-half-hour version of the movie, which we obviously couldn't release," Chu explained to us. "So we started to think about putting stuff back in that didn't have to do with our story but that we knew people would love."
Are you planning to go see the "Director's Fan Cut" of "Never Say Never"? Let us know in the comments.

Deadmau5 Brings Dance Music To The 'Masses,' Wolfgang Gartner Says
'He has a major role in the younger generation to this music,' producer/DJ tells MTV News of his collaborator.

It's no secret that 2010 was a pivotal year for electronic dance music here in the States. With deadmau5 and Swedish House Mafia becoming household names, the genre's momentum shows no signs of slowing down. Using a conduit of collaboration, artists such as deadmau5 (a.k.a. Joel Zimmerman) have paired up with various underground acts to further the rapid expansion of the genre.
Perhaps one of the most notable movers and shakers of the year is now-Grammy-Award-nominated producer and DJ Wolfgang Gartner, who recently sat down to chat with MTV News about deadmau5 and dance music's rise to the top.
"He has a major role in the younger generation to this music," Gartner says, "but there have been certain artists that have been instrumental in helping it cross over and reach the mainstream — which I think is a good thing. I think rap artists using dance beats is a great thing. I think it just brings more people towards this music that we all love."
Thanks to several key moments, such as deadmau5 taking the helm as house DJ (well, technically "House Artist") for the 2010 VMAs, dance music has been thrown into the forefront of America's youth, a key demographic for any genre.
"Everybody knows who he is now and he's kind of exposing the masses to dance music. These little five-, six- and seven-year-old kids latch on to this 'mau5head' logo — they get into the music and he's bringing this tiny young generation into this music that probably wouldn't be exposed to it."
Gartner certainly doesn't mind the exposure either. Unless you were living under a rock for the past six months, you probably heard one of this past summer's hottest anthems, "Animal Rights," a collaborative effort brought forth by deadmau5 and Gartner.
"It was interesting because I kind of had a preconceived notion about how he would be to work [with]," said Gartner. "I think our sounds are really similar, so I figured he would work in a similar way to me, but the way that he writes music is actually completely different to me. But he achieves kind of the same sound through a completely different process."
Recorded in deadmau5's favorite Los Angeles studio — that would be rocker Tommy Lee's House — "Animal Rights" is a thumping progressive house anthem that melds Wolfgang's unmistakable harmonics and funk riffs with the driving bass line and wobbly synths that make deadmau5 one of the unique forces in the dance music world.
"[Deadmau5] writes these rich complex chord progressions and he does it by drawing these little bars on a grid, which is just amazing that you can do that and get that result," Gartner goes on to say. "It just proves you don't have to be able to play keyboards to write amazing music."
The two sound pioneers never cease to stop pushing the limits on what they are able to produce. Using drastically difference production approaches, deadmau5 and Gartner had the ability to play off each other's strengths while recording the track.
"I'd say the biggest thing is that I play everything in on a keyboard, like even my drums," says Gartner. "I play everything in live and he draws it in with notes on a mouse, which blew me away because his music is very musical."
What do you think 2011 will hold for deadmau5 and Gartner? Let us know in the comments below!

Dave Grohl, Josh Homme, John Paul Jones Unveil Supergroup
Them Crooked Vultures make their debut with a post-Lollapalooza set.

Officially, Lollapalooza ended Sunday night in Chicago's Grant Park, with dueling sets from the Killers and Jane's Addiction. Unofficially, it ended very early Monday morning, across town at venerable rock club the Metro, with a surprise show by Them Crooked Vultures.
To the unfamiliar, the Vultures might seem like an odd choice to close out Lolla weekend ... until you realize that they're made up of Foo Fighters frontman/ former Nirvana drummer Dave Grohl, Queens of the Stone Age mastermind Josh Homme and Led Zeppelin legend John Paul Jones. And their gig at the Metro was their world premiere.
According to some reports, the Vultures actually turned down Lollapalooza founder Perry Farrell's request to replace the Beastie Boys as headliners at the festival, opting to debut in front of some 1,100 super-psyched fans at the Metro, rather than 75,000 in Grant Park (tickets for the gig were announced via Foo Fighter/ QOTSA fan clubs). Meaning that, in a lot of ways, this was the most sought-after ticket in town.
Taking the stage just after midnight, the Vultures — Grohl on drums (of course), Homme on guitar and vocals, Jones on bass and keys and frequent QOTSA contributor Alain Johannes on guitar — ripped through 12 songs in 80 minutes, all taken from their upcoming debut, which may or may not be called Never Deserved the Future, and may or may not be hitting stores on October 23 (early "promo" videos touting both those facts were revealed over the weekend to be hoaxes perpetrated by QOTSA fans).
The songs, with appropriately Homme-ian titles like "Scumbag Blues," "Mind Eraser (No Chaser)," "Caligulove" and "Interlude w/Ludes," sounded pretty much how you'd expect, given the band's pedigree. They rocked, hard — Chicago Tribune critic Greg Kot described them as "fresh, invigorating and just plain nasty" — delving off into psychedelic, reverb-filled excursions and exploring proggy territory, "both of the old-school Yes variety, and the more modern Tool flavor," according to the Chicago Sun-Times' Jim DeRogatis.
It's not known if Monday's Metro performance was a one-off event for the Vultures — there have been whispers of a full-blown tour, but a spokesperson for Homme had not responded to MTV News' request for comment at press time. Nor was it clear whether or not they'll have an album out in October.
Early Monday, a Crooked Vultures Twitter account, which had previously posted links to the band's official-looking Web site and the Metro's online ticketing site — posted a link to what appears to be the group's first bit of official merchandise: a Deserve the Future T-shirt. Cost: $30.
